Camel wool quilt
You might wonder why your camel wool quilt or blanket is so warm and breathable at the same time. Well, to find out let us look closer at the conditions in which camels live. Imagine that you have to stand very hot temperatures during the day and quite cold temperatures during the night. Camels are perfectly prepared for that. They do not only have the thick layer of hair, which, contrary to common belief, provides not only warmth but also reflects the sunbeams. So, although it looks that camels are constantly wearing thick winter coats, in fact they feel much more comfortable than we think. There is also a common belief that camels store water in their humps. Well, it"s not really true. Humps are full of fat. This fatty tissue would normally be present all over their bodies if they lived in a colder climate, but it would be a real nuisance in their natural habitat. This is why they keep it on their back and use it as a source of energy when necessary. This, of course, leads to lower water intake but it"s not a straightforward process. Well, your camel wool quilt is probably very soft and comfortable, but this is what a camel"s fur is like! Of course, it"s has much more important functions than that.
